The Celebs Turn Out For Chanel Couture
Chanel’s ready-to-wear shows are an extravaganza in their own right, so Karl Lagerfeld really has to up the ante when it comes to creating a couture spectacle. For SS12, Karl and his model army took fashion flight, showcasing the collection in a specially crafted 247-seater Air Chanel plane inside Paris’s Grand Palais. As chic stewards served champagne from the in-flight trolley, a parade of cocktail evening dresses and full-on gowns, signature suits in tweed and bouclé topped off with Alice Dellal (the face of Chanel’s new ‘Boy’ bag) inspired backcombed hair.
Of course, Uncle Karl’s favourite girls turned out to support him, with Diane Kruger, Vanessa Paradis and Caroline Sieber amongst the A-list attendees. The dress code? Classic Chanel monochrome with a unique styling spin – thigh-high boots from Diane, a boho maxi toughened up with leather from Vanessa and a futuristic take on the skirt suit from Caroline. Alexa Chung Hits Chanel’s Las Vegas Fashion Bash
Oh what we’d give to bag an invitation to a Chanel soiree. For their latest celebration – the launch of the Numeros Prives exhibition in Las Vegas – the fashion house flew out the style set by private jet for a weekend of fashion fun. The opening night party was awash with Chanel favourites including Alexa Chung, Diane Kruger, Lily Collins and Jessica Alba. All were dressed in head-to-toe Chanel and adorned with Chanel fine jewellery, but each lady went for very different looks.
Alexa Chung, who took to the decks to entertain the crowd, swapped tomboy for cutesy in a pastel blue boucle mini dress and a crystal clutch, while Jessica Alba. opted for classic Chanel monochrome chic in a two tone midi dress. Daring fashionista Diane Kruger went futuristic in a high-necked sequin dress, and Lily Collins took Chanel into boho territory with a floaty maxi dress, loose waves and piled on chains.
With Karl Lagerfeld back in Paris working on Tuesday’s couture show, it was up to the Chanel ambassadors to party for him, and Poppy Delevigne, Rachel Zoe, Caroline Seiber and Leigh Lezark danced the night away to Alexa’s tunes and a set from Imelda May. Karl Lagerfeld's New Affordable Fashion Line Set To Launch
Ooh la la! We can reveal that designer Karl Lagerfeld is set to launch a new affordable womenswear fashion label called Karl for January 2012 with prices ranging from £52-£390. Karl told trade fashion bible Women's Wear Daily: “I just want not too expensive clothes that people may like and perhaps want to wear.” Oh Karl, that's music to our ears. We don't think there'll be much loungewear in the collection though, as the fashion designer has apparently said in the past: “Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life, so you bought some sweatpants.” Hmm, somehow we can't imagine Karl doing dressed-down Sundays, anyway. Karl Lagerfeld's Karl collection will be available exclusively at Net-a-porter.com, although there are plans for stand-alone stores. We can't wait!

Blake Lively’s Unusual Accessory
As the face of Chanel’s Mademoiselle bag and star of Gossip Girl, Blake Lively is no stranger to killer accessories, but yesterday she stepped out with her signature Chanel arm candy in one hand, and a pumpkin in the other! Not your usual A-list accessory we have to say, but kudos to her for getting into the Halloween spirit – and managing to look cool while carrying a pumpkin down the street! LOOK’s Fashion News Editor Parties With Mr Chanel In Paris
When LOOK’s Fashion News Editor Lucy Wood was invited to meet world-famous fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld in Paris, it was a real OMG moment! After all, this is the man responsible for making Chanel seriously covetable and celebs like Blake Lively, Keira Knightley, Lily Allen and Alexa Chung red-carpet fabulous. At a rooftop soirée at The Pompidou Centre in Paris, Lucy Wood rubbed shoulders with the A-list for the launch of Mr Lagerfeld’s new super-cool, limited-edition Diet Coke bottles. The champers flowed, an army of waiters dressed as Karl Lagerfeld clones to serve his own design Diet Coke bottles, and Lou Doillon and Lily Cole showed up for a boogie. When the paps stopped snapping him, Lucy Wood grabbed Karl Lagerfeld for a chinwag about his new Diet Coke designs, his ultimate style rules and why he loves H&M and Topshop. Karl Lagerfeld Set To Design Lily Allen’s Wedding Dress
If rumours making the rounds recently that Kate Middleton is set to enlist Sarah Burton, head of design at Alexander McQueen, to design her wedding gown weren’t exciting enough, Lily Allen’s only gone and confirmed to WWD that she’ll be sashaying down the aisle in Chanel! That's right ladies, Karl Lagerfeld, who chose Lily Allen as the face of his Mademoiselle handbag range (now fronted by Blake Lively) and had her perform at his spring 2010 ready to wear catwalk collection is set to create the mother of all dresses when she marries fiancé Sam Cooper later this year. Elle Macpherson Wows At The Launch Of Britain's Next Top Model
We were left in no doubt why Elle Macpherson is nicknamed ‘The Body’ when we caught up with her at the Britain’s Next Top Model Launch.
There aren’t many 47-year-old’s who could pull off those PVC trousers, especially in the height of summer. “I think they look more uncomfortable than they are,” she said. “They’re Karl Lagerfeld and they are very easy to wear. I thought they were fun.”
And she confessed she didn’t even have to use the talc trick to squeeze into the trousers. “Ha ha, no I didn’t use powder!” she added. “They are really easy to get on. I just love them.” KA

Creative directing both the Chanel show and Karl Lagerfeld collection, Karl Lagerfeld brought us two opposite beauty looks for autumn/winter 2010 in Paris this week. The Karl Lagerfeld show was all about the polish, with flawless skin, red lacquered lips and a practically perfect Brigitte Bardot beehives. Chanel, on the other hand, focused on undone, roughly backcombed hair, barely there base and morning-after smoky eyes.
