The British Fashion Awards: The Winners!
The British Fashion Awards took place in London last night - that's a lot of designer dresses in one room! British designers including Amanda Wakeley, Christopher Kane, Matthew Williamson and Stella McCartney partied with fashion’s elite including Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham and Alexa Chung at the event at The Savoy Hotel. Even American A Listers Kate Hudson and Olivia Palermo flew in for the event! Alexa, who won the British Style Award for the second year running, wore a sparkle-tastic dress by Christopher Kane (and matching clutch - how's that for co-ordination) with Charlotte Olympia heels. Kate Moss looked typically rock chick in a fishnet frock. We love your look Kate, but we can’t say we’ll be working it come Friday night! HE

The Royal Wedding Guests: Championing British Fashion
If Kate Middleton opts for Alexander McQueen, Victoria Beckham dons one of her own designs, and, as is being rumoured today, Samantha Cameron goes for Christopher Kane, the Royal Wedding looks set to be one serious celebration of British fashion designers. The PM’s wife is already a big fan of the designer, showcasing a skirt in his now cult galaxy pattern back in 2010. So, can we expect her to choose a neon number from the SS11 catwalk? Christopher’s sister Tammy did describe the collection as ‘Princess Margaret on acid’ after all. Yikes, tomorrow’s wedding congregation looks set to be as stylish as a fashion week front row. Leather Gets A Makeover For Spring
The Christopher Kane SS11 catwalk show was not one for the faint-hearted, however the neon leather pieces looked surprisingly wearable once teamed with preppy knitwear and a flush of barely there make-up. This got us thinking that maybe we should brighten up our leather pieces – after all, the sun is coming out! Forget playing it safe in neutral tones, this is the new way to do leather. Add laser-cut detailing into the mix and, voila, Christopher Kane models eat your heart out! We think this gorgeous cobalt number from Asos is the perfect alternative – not only is it a tenth of the price, but the shade is slightly more forgivable than the neon hues seen on the catwalk. A winner all round then – well, we think so! RS

SS11 Fashion Trend Alert: The Pink Ladies
We’re not normally a fan of the über-girlie look, in fact bubblegum pink hasn’t been part of our wardrobe palette since we turned six. But this season we’ve been convinced otherwise. From Cacharel to Christopher Kane, pink has been hailed as the shade to beat. So time to ditch the black, ladies, spring is here and it’s looking just peachy. Teresa Palmer: The One To Watch
Young, beautiful and rocking our favourite look from Christopher Kane’s Princess Margaret-on-acid collection, Aussie starlet Teresa Palmer has ‘new style icon’ written all over her. Here she is at the premiere of her latest movie Take Me Home Tonight, casually working lace, neon, pink AND snakeskin all in one nonchalant little bundle. The cherry on the top? Her playfully plaited hairstyle, pinned and piled high. We think our trendometer just exploded. OP

The NME Awards 2011: The A-List Lowdown
Champers in hand at the NME Awards 2011, we caught up with Alexa Chung, Marina Diamandis and Juliette Lewis to talk all things wardrobe. “I’m wearing a Christopher Kane dress that I love. It’s so comfortable”, said Alexa Chung . She is, of course, referring to the cult Christopher Kane galaxy print that’s been seen on more red carpets than Diane Kruger recently.
Marina Diamandis meanwhile was championing new designer Hasan Hejazi – “I’m wearing a dress by the same designer as the dress I wore to The LOOK Show SS11 on Friday. I’m trying to show him off as much as possible at the moment – he’s brilliant, and I like being able to help my friends out.” We hope it’s not on loan; it looks like the pesky London rain got the better of her silky white floor-sweeper.
Juliette Lewis provided the classic rock’n’roll look with sequined skinnies and a leather biker, and the Hollywood heavyweight said she’s definitely more comfortable in her signature grunge looks than doing red carpet glamour “I feel more like me when I’m making music. I can dress like me. Next week I’m going to the Oscar parties and I’m going to have to be glamorous. It’s fun, but I don’t want to do it all the time.” Oh, if only we could be so complacent about VIP parties and killer couture! GG

Alexa Chung Goes Galactic At The NME Awards 2011
Back on British soil with her Californian tan, Alexa Chung stepped out in style at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2011 in London. The style icon teamed a Christopher Kane galaxy-print dress with her favourite black platforms – we think she looks out of this world! Alexa wisely let her dress take centre stage by ditching her usual jewellery pile-up, but added a girlie edge with lush lilac nails. We might not be able to afford the dress, but that nail colour is definitely within budget – expect a nail varnish stampede, Boots! HE

Fashion Update: How To Wear Knits This Spring '11
While we love the idea of spending spring skipping through poppy fields in ditsy florals, the reality in good old Blighty is something rather different. Lucky then that the spring/summer 2011 catwalks saw models striding down the runways in knitwear that didn’t look out of place with a chiffon skirt or even citrus coloured lace. Of course the trend didn’t pass by celebrity style icons Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung at London Fashion Week. Alexa Chung went for a chunky navy sweater and lampshade skirt combo whilst Olivia Palermo wore her jumper with a Topshop maxi skirt.
