The Unicorn Braid Rules At London Fashion Week

Yep, London Fashion Week has officially kicked off, and what better way to start the season than with a hair trend we can all try this weekend?!

When it comes to crazy high fashion, it’s not all that often we see a hair do on the runway and instantly want to recreate it, but that is exactly what happened at Felder Felder’s AW16 show.

We headed backstage and saw the models rocking oh-so chic (and totally wearable IRL) centre-parting plaits – aka the unicorn braid… Not only is the hairstyle seriously cool, but the mini braid makes it perfect for those of us that want to try a new look but don’t want to look OTT.

Fancy giving it a go? Here’s what you need to do…

Step One: Section off about an inch of hair at either side of your parting, then tie all the rest of your hair into a low ponytail – this’ll just keep it out of the way whilst you perfect your unicorn plait.

Step Two: You need to french plait the hair you’ve just sectioned off, as this will keep the braid flat to the head. Begin by taking three small pieces of hair from the front of your hairline and start to plait, add in more hair as you move further down the parting to create a mini french braid.

Step Three: When you reach the end of your parting, use a clear elastic to tie off the remaining hair and secure the braid.

Step Four: Take a small piece of hair from the end of the braid and wrap it around the elastic, then simply use a kirby grip to pin the hair in place.

Step Five: Now your unicorn braid is all set you can take the rest of the hair out of the low ponytail. We recommend add a few waves and a blast of dry shampoo through the lengths to give your hair a naturally textured finish, just like the Felder Felder models.

Ok, hands up, who’s going to give this one a go come Monday morning…?
