Rainbow hair is so last year. For 2016 it’s all about the rainbow fringe.

Yep, if Instagram is anything to go by then this colourful hair update is about to be everywhere.

If you search #rainbowbangs on Instagram your feed will be full of girls rocking this vibrant, technicolour ‘do. A less intense and lower maintenance alternative to a full head of rainbow hair, a rainbow fringe is an easy way to have fun with your mane.

Amber Le Bon – model and daughter of Duran Duran lead singer Simon Le Bon – is one of the first stars to sport this new trend. The Redken hair ambassador took a trip to hairstylist to the stars George Northwood (followed by a colour by Redken) and walked out with a completely new look. And it’s safe to say people are pretty obsessed with her new look.  Amber did not go full rainbow but instead opted for a subtler pink and rose gold fringe. We love!

American star Keke Palmer is another celeb that’s taken to Instagram to showcase this new trend. Keke debuted a mermaid-esque blue fringe back in December.

While these stars may have plumped for just one colour in their fringe, over on Instagram girls are going full unicorn when doing their dye job.

Tempted to try this trend? Well first you need a fringe (obvs), and then you’re either looking at getting traditional highlights or a more free-style colour application technique depending on the finish you want to achieve.

Stuck for inspo? Here are a few more kaleidoscopic looks we’ve spotted over on Instagram…
