If your damaged, dry and unmanageable hair is getting you down, listen up, because there’s a brand new wonder treatment in town, and you need to know about it.
The treatment in question is called Olaplex, and it’s being causing a storm over in the US, with colourists including Tracey Cunningham (she’s the lady who made Gwyneth Paltrow honey blonde and Jennifer Lopez that creamy caramel) the first to get her hands on the revolutionary treatment. But what is it, you ask? Read on to find out more about it, and why you need to book in for your treatment ASAP.
What is Olaplex?
Olaplex is the best recovery hair treatment out there. It was created when an unusual collaboration of two chemists, Dr Craig Hawker, with a PHD in Chemisty, and Dr Eric Pressly, with a PHD in Materials, came together with beauty-industry entrepreneur, Dean Christal, who was looking for the ‘the next big beauty breakthrough’.
Together, they found that when you put chemicals in the hair from colouring or intense straightening treatments, the sulfur bonds split and turn into sulfur hydrogen. This process eats away at the hair proteins causing rough, dry and damaged strands. Olaplex works to prevent the splitting, and therefore keeps the hair from becoming seriously damaged.
Who is it best for?
It’s ideal for seriously damaged hair, or if you colour your hair regularly. Ever wonder how celebs can dye their hair from brown, to blonde, to purple, then back to blonde, then brown again? Well, it’s all with the help of this wonder treatment. Clever colourists can mix it in with the dye whilst it develops, helping to further strengthen the hair.
