You may have already heard the big Chanel news – iconic perfume Chanel No.5 is getting a ‘fresh’ new makeover this autumn. Now, in even bigger news, it looks as though Lily-Rose Depp is leading the revamp!
Yep, the 16-year-old has landed a major modelling gig as the new face of the fragrance, and will front the ad campaign for Chanel No. 5 L’Eau when it launches later this year.
Clearly chuffed with her brand new role, Lily-Rose revealed the announcement on Instagram last night, with a super cute snap.
Presumably taken on the set of the new campaign, the shot shows the model daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis kissing an oversized bottle of the new fragrance, while wearing a beautifully bold Chanel frock.
Can we talk about the bow details please? How sweet are those bow-tied shoulder straps! We’re loving the pretty ponytail tied-off with a red ribbon too.
Having been first launched a whopping 95 years ago, Chanel No.5 has long been the most iconic fragrance in the world.
Marilyn Monroe famously revealed that she loved the perfume so much it was the only thing she wore to bed, while celebs from Gisele to Jessica Alba have all declared their love for it.
So naturally, a reworking of the scent has got perfume lovers everywhere more than a little excited!
Though this is the fifth time the perfume has been reinterpreted, the perfumers at Chanel – led by industry legend Olivier Polge – are now hoping to put a younger, fresher slant on the scent.
While the essence of the Jasmine-based perfume will remain the same, Chanel No. 5 L’Eau is expected to be lighter, prettier and cleaner than the original, perhaps making for the ultimate wear-anywhere perfume.
