Get ready for Layage, because it's promising to be 2016's most gorgeous hair trend.
We're always on the hunt for a new way to highlight, and this new hair colouring technique is shaping up to be huge this season.
So, how does layage work? Well, as you can guess from the name, it's kind of similar to balayage, except this new technique is a much more controlled method.

Layage involves hand painting colour onto the hair on a large flat board, meaning more precision and control - a lot like the fluid hair painting trend we saw all over Instagram last year.
This results in a seriously soft, natural looking blended colour. The before and after pictures say it all…
Katie Allan, Creative Manager and Colour Expert at Charles Worthington Salons, says: 'The technique allows hair to achieve a natural gradient colour. This technique can be used for ombre or natural subtle highlights - it's so versatile!'

So, what hair types does it suit? Well, the great thing about layage is that it pretty much suits EVERYONE. If you're a blonde, you can up your sun-kissed factor by weaving a few brighter strands in through the top and lightening up at the ends.
And for brunettes, layage lets you have the ombre-esque Lily Aldridge tresses of your dreams. *Sigh*.
