If I could change one thing about my face, it would be my dark circles. I’m pretty blessed when it comes to my complexion, I don’t suffer from many breakouts and my skin tone is even enough for me to forgo foundation.
But there’s one thing that really holds me back from being a bare faced beauty: dark circles. Being a beauty writer I have tried it all; every lotion, potion and eye mask out there seems to be no match for my bags. It’s become a bit of an obsession; every product that claims to tackle the dreaded shadows must be mine. I’ve scoured the internet high and low for remedies and having resided in the fact that there aren’t really any that work, I’ve become accustomed to a 3-step concealer régime, which isn’t exactly the speediest.

So, being particularly in the know (or at least thinking I am) about dark circle disguises, I was surprised to come across an article claiming that potatoes – yes, you read that right, potatoes, can actually help get rid of your dark circles for good.
Apparently the bizarre vegetable trick is to do with a natural bleaching agent and the starch content, which help to gradually lighten dark circles over time. Just cut the potato into thin slices and place them underneath your eyes, leaving them to work their magic for at least 15 minutes.
Do this weekly and hey-presto; your tired eyes will be history, apparently. While I’m yet to try the weird, yet wonderful natural remedy, model Victoria Brito swears by it, claiming the clever trick was handed down to her by her mum. “After doing it about five times, you’ll start to see a drastic reduction of dark circles. The potato literally starts to get dark and shrivel up while you use it – it’s crazy!” she told Byrdie.
