Wanna fix a chipped manicure? Here's how...

How To Fix Chipped Nail Polish: Your Mani SOS

You’ve spent forever applying coat after coat, laying polish over stain-proof base coats and super-stay topcoats, but somehow your nail polish has still chipped. We all know it’s annoying, who has the time to go through all that again?!

Well we’ve got the answer!

Most nail polish chips appear at the very top of the nail, because that’s the place that takes the most impact, think typing, texting, drumming your nails on your desk…

Yep, your fingertips take some serious impact throughout the day. Plus the tip of the nail is prone to weakness as the layers of skin that make up it’s anatomy (sounds gross, we know) can become damaged if water gets in between them, hence those annoying peeling flakes – which lead to chips in your polish.

There’s not a whole lot you can do to stop chips all together – we’re sorry! Other than investing in an amazing base coat, like Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Instant Nail Hardener, £8.99, to strengthen your nails, then finishing off your mani with a hard-wearing topcoat like the CND Vinylux Weekly Long Lasting Topcoat, £7.50. But one thing you can do is disguise any chips that do occur.

Simply take a glitter nail polish, it can be any colour but make sure it’s packed to the brim with fine glitter flecks as opposed to sparse, chunky flecks. We love Butter London Lucy In The Sky Nail Lacquer, £12. Then simply blob a little glitter onto the very top of your nail, over any pesky damaged spots. Next wipe the excess glitter off the brush and use it to smudge the glitter blob down over your nail. It’ll probably reach the half-way point before running dry. This is perfect, because you’ve instantly cheated a mega-cool ombré effect – go you! The glitter will hide any chips whilst making you look like a nail art pro, it couldn’t be easier…
