It's the age-old question that most girls deal with at some point in their lives - HOW do I curl my locks with hair straighteners and obtain perfect, beachy waves?
Well, we think we may have the answer. And it's all thanks to Nicci Welsh, Oribe Hair Care education ambassador, who is here to introduce her genius 'Scandi waves'.
It all started with the video tutorial that she aired at the Front Row hair conference in Miami last week, that showed the entire audience how to use straighteners to curl your hair in the simplest way.
The Denmark-based hair stylist explained to Refinery 29: 'I don't know if it's been done before — it must have — but the reaction from 90% of the people I show it to is: "I've never seen that". I made it up because in Denmark we want this minimalistic beach look.'
So, how does it work?
Well, the thing that's new about this waving technique is the way you use your flat iron. Welsh's Scandi Waves come by pushing your strands into an 'S' shape and clamping it lightly but repeatedly with your straighteners to heat the hair into position.
You continue this technique all the way down the length of your hair, until the 'S' shape has been locked in. And as you can see, the results are pretty gorgeous. Hello, dreamy mermaid waves!
After trying the Scandi Wave technique, we can confirm that it's not only pretty simple, but also quick, too - just make sure to separate hair into 1-2 inch sections at a time for the best results.
