As if there weren’t already enough beautiful people in Cannes this past week, Doutzen Kroes decides to turn up. She attended the premiere of Youth at the 68th Cannes Film Festival yesterday evening. She looked sophisticated in a slinky black number, with her makeup as flawless as always, but what we really loved were her tumbling princess locks. Just LOOK at that mane of blonde perfection!
With the half up-do pulled away from her face, from the front the style looks pretty unassuming. But with a twirl, Doutzen reveals her mane of sun-kissed locks gently tumbling down her back. And in reality, it’s not all that hard to achieve either. Follow our 3-step guide to get Doutzen’s tumbling tresses – you can thank us later…
1- Section Separate out the two sections of your hair from the front of your face that you want to pin up. Don’t worry about it being neat; Doutzen has allowed for a few flyaways. Give the roots a bit of texture with a volume spray before you secure your up-do – Label.M’s Texturising Volume Spray will do the job nicely.
2- Twist & Pin As you bring your hair towards the crown of your head, loosely twist each section before you pin it in place. Make sure that you separate one section of the hair into two; you’ll need the second bit to wrap around the pinned hair, concealing any bands or grips. TOP TIP – Hair grips go in with the flat side facing outwards (yep, we’ve been doing it wrong all these years too). Use extra-long grips if you’ve got thick hair.
3- Curl Now your style is secure, give your loose locks some curl with a styling wand. Doutzen’s waves aren’t tight, so you’ll want a wand with a large barrel, focusing on the ends rather than creating curls through the whole length. Once you’re done, give it a good spray with some firm hold hairspray and your curls will last from day to night – because you’ll never see a princess with lank, lustreless hair.
