New York Fashion Week isn't just about designers showcasing their latest collections, every year as we watch the shows we look out for both new faces and beauty trends that we think are going to be kind of a big deal!
So far we’ve spied numerous makeup looks and some gorgeous fresh faced newbies but there’s one girl who managed to catch our eye from the very first show she walked this season, and not just because of her striking looks but also her hair.
Her name is Alanna and we are predicting some seriously big things to come. We’ve spotted her backstage and on the catwalk at some of the biggest AW16 shows, from Herve Leger, to BCBG Maxazaria the stunning model has been making waves, standing out from the crowd with her dark green eyes and her unmissable curly hair.
So, go figures after crushing on this beauty we couldn't help but notice that curly hair is having a serious moment.

As the fashion industry evolves we’ve seen more and more designers using a greater mix of ethnicities in their shows. And with more diversity brings a beautiful variety of hair textures.
In fact, this season we’ve never seen so many girls rocking their natural hair on the catwalk, in place of the usual cloned straight strands more shows than not have taken to allowing the models hair to stay in its natural state.
Hairstylist Orlando Pita has created many of the looks backstage and told us that now is definitely the time to be wearing your natural hair. “We’re leaving a lot of the curly haired girls hair natural this season because it’s all about uniqueness and embracing their natural curl,” he said.
And it’s not just Alanna, fellow IT girl Argentinian Mica Arganaraz’s mop of shaggy curls was used as the hair inspiration at Lacoste where all the models embraced their natural textures. She also walked for Jason Wu and Alexander Wang and in both shows her wild waves were in no way attempted to be straightened.
It might not seem like much, but it’s a refreshingly big leap forward for fashion and we couldn't be happier, after all curls rule.
