We all know how annoying it is when our skin decides it isn’t going to cooperate, which usually results in us desperately throwing our money at products that promise a solution but don’t always deliver.
So when we heard news of a spot banishing beauty hack advocated by Chloe Grace Moretz who is known for her fresh-faced, blemish free skin, we were all ears.
Instead of spending money on fancy facial cleansers and pricey makeup removers, the 19-year-old beauty revealed that the product she swears by is nothing more than one of our kitchen cupboard staples; olive oil.
In an interview with Allure, Chloe explained that growing up she dealt with cystic acne and tried loads of different beauty products to try and help her condition.
She then went on to say: “I wash my face with olive oil. I swear my skin is so much clearer because of it.” Who’d have thought it ey!?
We can understand if you are feeling slightly sceptical at the idea of slathering your face in oil if you already have oily or acne-prone skin, but we’ve done our research and you might be quite surprised.
Olive oil contains antioxidants that prevent premature aging, restore skin smoothness and protects against harmful UV rays and unlike some branded moisturisers, which can clog pores, it deeply penetrates skin whilst effectively cleansing.
Olive oil is also highly beneficial as an exfoliater, all you have to do is add a tablespoon of oil with natural sea salt and you’re good to go. We’ll be hand rearing our mascaras next!
So basically the secret sauce to supermodel skin was down our local Tesco the WHOLE time. Oh and it can be bought with the change from your fiver. Why didn’t someone tell us sooner!?
