Where do you have your parting?

Annie Rush, a hairstylist at Eva Scrivo Salon in New York City, has become something of an internet spokesperson when it comes to the benefits of switching up your parting. And we're here to spread her knowledge far and wide, for the benefit of your locks.

Speaking to Allure, Annie gives some tips on why you should practice sweeping your hair to a different side: 'The longer we wear the same part, the more we wear the hair down in that area and cause breakage'.

This is especially true if you use a lot of heat to style your hair. If you've got those little flyaway hairs - if you're part of the hair straightener generation, you'll feel this - Annie advises that switching up your parting is a great way to disguise them.

As well as giving you something different to look at in the mirror, it's better for your hair too. Annie explains, 'You're not allowing the hair to fall in the same position every day, and in turn, the roots are upright and breathing.'

What better reasons to switch up your hair, eh?
