Ascot: Hairstyles For Your Hat

Royal Ascot is less than a month away (June 16th-20th), and if you’re lucky enough to be attending, then you’ve probably started thinking about what you’re going to wear – either that or you’ve had it planned for months. It’s practically the only excuse we’ve got to wear a fancy hat, so take this opportunity to pick a standout piece. Hats come in all shapes and sizes, but whatever your choice, you can be assured that there’s a  hairdo to go with it. Here are our suggestions for hat-hair (the good kind)…

1- Fascinator

With this look, let the fascinator take centre stage by keeping your hair pared back. Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Keep everything in place with a plaited creation; from milkmaid braids to french plaits or loose pigtails, take inspiration from the catwalk. After all, don’t let your fascinator be the only talking point.

2- Wide Brim

A wide-brim hat sure is attention grabbing, so make sure you don’t overdo with a look-at-me hairdo. You’ve got two options here: go for a sleek blow-dry and leave your locks loose, or sweep your style back into a low pony or chignon. You don’t want to be fiddling with bobby pins or grips beneath your hat, so opt for something a bit simpler.

3- Floral

Now, if you opt for something floral to adorn your head, just remember you’re not at a festival. We love a floral crown as much as the next person, but this field requires a much smarter dress code. Nevertheless, keep an element of boho chic with wavy locks that frame your face.
