Nope, you’re not hallucinating, our good friend science as come to our rescue once again and finally given us a valid excuse to knock back our nightly glass of red.
Turns out, scientists have revealed that a glass of red wine is just as good for us as an hours worth of exercise. What gym?
The research was carried out at the University of Alberta in Canada and they discovered that this phenomenon is all down to the resveratrol found in red wine, which as been found to raise your productivity, make your heart work a little harder and strengthen your muscles, the same effects that have been observed on the body post exercise.
We’re clearly, very excited. And, as if it couldn’t get any better, resveratrol has also been found to regulate blood sugar levels and help the skin against the signs of aging.
And those who drink one glass of red wine a day are less likely to develop dementia or cancer. Um, pass us the Shiraz, like now.
To conclude our little science lesson, red wine is basically magic in a bottle (like we didn’t already know that).
