As a beautiful, curvy girl, you’ve probably heard a few old wives’ tales about what you should and shouldn’t be wearing. Yawn.

Well, we’re here to tell you that we’ve got no time for rules and regulations when it comes to our wardrobes.  And neither should you.

Here’s why…

1. MYTH: Horizontal stripes are a no-no

You’ve probably been told that they’ll make you look wider. Oh, per-lease.

Firstly, who says that being ‘wide’ is a bad thing?

Secondly, if you’re partial to a stripe print – and we all love to go a little nautical from time to time – you should be able to pick out the lines that you’d love to wear the most.

In fact, there’s been a lot of speculation – and even scientific studies – about whether horizontal stripes could ACTUALLY make you look slimmer. Talk about busting a myth, eh?

2. MYTH: Black should be your BFF

Sure, going head-to-toe in black can look super chic. But please don’t feel that this should be your go-to colour in a bid to look smaller.

Colourful hues can enhance your mood and inject some fun into your wardrobe – and when you feel good, you look good too.

Win, win.

3. MYTH: Avoid bodycon like the plague

Errr. We happen to love a bit of bodycon on every shape and size.

Forget the idea that you need to be a smaller size to rock a figure-hugging dress. Show off those curves with pride, and why not add a pair of heels for that big night out?

4. MYTH: Top heavy women can’t wear knits

If you happen to carry your curves on your bust or upper body, you’ve probably been directed to the cardigan section a few times.

But there’s absolutely nothing to say that you can’t rock a statement jumper, and let us be the first to tell you that the shops have some amazing offerings this Autumn/Winter season.

A crew neck or V-neck cut may complement a fuller bust best, and a handy little tip is to be sure that you pick out a supportive bra.

5. MYTH: Button-up blouses are not your friend

Right? WRONG.

Just don’t opt for a tight fit and run the risk of a button popping. Buy a size up to ensure that you’ve got plenty of room – besides, oversized shirts are so this season.

Cinching at the waist with a statement belt can help to create that hourglass figure, adding extra sass points.

So there you have it.

The moral of the story? Wear whatever your heart desires. Because if you feel confident, you’ll look it too.
