A must-read for anyone with a penchant for prosecco
The party season is well and truly upon us which inevitably means you’re going to feel hungover at least once this month (or should that be week). Rather than avoid indulging in a glass of prosecco or three, we think the way to deal with the dreaded morning after is to cheat it.
Most parties over the festive season fall mid-week because the party gods are cruel. Which means you will need to drag yourself into the office or wherever you work the next morning to hear all the goss whilst harbouring a raging hangover.
Handling feeling hanging often involves copious amounts of food, preferably the carb-kind, and wearing extra comfy clothing. All of which can be done without giving your hangover status away too much. The thing that always gives it away is your face, and there’s very little you can do to hide that. Balaclavas are not cool.
Here are ten easy tricks to disguise even the most The Hangover-like hangovers…
Your poor, alcohol-ravaged skin needs hydration. If you remembered to remove your make up the night before, bravo. If not, take a clean flannel and soak it in warm water before placing on the face and slowly massaging. Do this a few times to get rid of all the grime. Remove eye make up with an oil-based remover to nourish the lashes. Then take some time to massage a generous blob of rich moisturiser into your skin.

De-puff eyes and minimise eye bags with mini moon-shaped masks. The A-list are huge fans of this trick, often using them before a wild night. Top tip: keep a pack in the fridge for extra cool points.
After a good moisture-massage your face should be looking plumper and hydrated. It’s still going to need some help to look alive so a face primer is a must. The Ordinary, Deciem’s purse-friendly but super clever skincare range, has a super lightweight primer that feels more like a serum. It smoothes the skin making it ready for foundation application. It’s also super hydrating, leaving skin with a dewy finish.
Make up artist Charlotte Tilbury knows a thing or two about making skin look gorgeous. Invest in her hydrating, youth-boosting foundation for skin that looks like it had 8 hours sleep.
Tired, bloodshot eyes are a major giveaway that you were out until the wee hours. Counteract any redness and rehydrate your peepers with drops.
Another (and slightly grosser) sign is sour boozy breath. Yes, you scrubbed your teeth this morning but booze can make a very unwelcome return throughout the day. Slick lips with a minty gloss for added freshness.
One of style queen Alexa Chung’s favourite ways to distract people when she’s hanging is to wear a statement red lipstick. Choose a shade with cool blue undertones to help calm the skin.
Woke up too late for a shower? We feel ya. Rather than accept your hair will smell like the floor of a karaoke bar all day, spritz in some hair perfume to freshen it up.
Fake glowing health with a good pinch-your-cheeks-style blusher. Go for a cream formulation to up the dewy factor.
Contrary to popular belief, lining the inner eyes with white kohl isn’t the best way to look awake. It’s too harsh and ends up looking false. Try a flesh-toned kohl instead to off-set any lingering redness.
Give your body a helping hand from the inside using an ultra hydrating supplement. Ad twenty drops of Healthaid Concentrated Air-Oxy Liquid to 20mil of water to boost hydration. Then get ready to do it all over again after the next party!
