Blue Eyeshadow Rocks At Gucci!

Blue eyeshadow is making a comeback - if Gucci have anything to do with it!
If Pat Butcher and Jordan spring to mind when you think of blue eyeshadow then you need to think again, as thanks to Gucci, blue eyeshadow is making a comeback for Spring/Summer 2009! After watching Burberry and Giles shows and seeing nude lips and barely there make-up, it was exciting to see striking colours return to the catwalk. Sleek and shiny hair with loose curls were combined with '70s style make-up in shades of electric blues and greens. It was by far the sexiest look we've seen at the Spring/Summer shows. Guccis look is pretty easy to recreate - all you need is a bright blue eyeshadow, black eyeliner and mascara. Keep the rest of your face light and fresh and avoid blusher in case of make-up overload. Lips should be nude, which is a massive trend for next season.

Golden Globes Beauty Tribe One: The Hollywood Siren
Hollywood’s leading ladies showcased an amazing array of dresses at the Golden Globes last night but in the hair and make-up stakes, the red carpet was divided. First Up: The Hollywood Siren – Cameron Diaz, Heather Graham, January Jones and Maggie Gyllenhaal were all slicked to perfection with a striking red lip and hair pulled tightly back of the face – full of drama and a definite nod to old school glamour. - JH

Golden Globes Beauty Tribe Two: Girlie Glamour
Leona Lewis, Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock and Emily Blunt opted for a playful look (over the more structured Hollywood Siren look sported by January Jones and Cameron Diaz) with hair worn in relaxed waves. Makeup consisted of an on-trend lilac smoked eye teamed with a peachy flush and a lightly glossed nude pink lip. We’re not sure which look we loved more - The Hollywood Siren or Girlie Glamour - but with Spring makeup collections hitting stores this month, we’ll be trying out both!- JH

Beauty Tried And Tested: The Best Nude Eyeshadows
Want to know what the best beauty products are before you buy? LOOK is here to help... today our very own Beauty Editor Sophie Beresiner and LOOK reader Rachel George have put nude eyeshadows to the test...
Beauty Editor: The pearlescent finish of this really brightened up my eyes and I loved the pinky hue it had. Apply it with your fingers by pressing it onto your lids. Rachel: This felt a bit thick on my eyelids and creased easily but I actually liked the worn in effect. I also found it worked well as an illuminator. Beauty Score: 3/5
- Bobbi Brown Cream Eyeshadow in Malted, £16
Beauty Editor: The yellow tones in this were great at balancing dark shadows and it didn't crease easily. Rachel: This one tended to sit on top of the skin and took some effort to blend in but it camouflaged dark zones as well as any premium brand product. Beauty Score: 5/5
- ELF Custom Eyes in Moondust, £1.50
Beauty Editor: You need a fair bit of this to get a good colour but this pale taupe looks ultra sophisticated. Finish it off with lashings off lengthening mascara. Rachel: I really liked this one. It lasted all day at work and I added a darker shade in the corners before going out at night, which worked really well. Beauty Score: 4/5
- Youngblood Crushed Mineral Eyeshadow in Alabaster, £16.50
Beauty Editor: I swept this on with an eyeshadow brush and the finish was super smooth. The colour’s very subtle but its great for a base to layer other colours on. Rachel: It might sound silly but this was almost too nude – it came out like a face powder and just blended in with my skin. It was very soft on my skin though. Beauty Score: 2/5

Beyoncé Knowles Does Teary Chic
Beyoncé's new video ‘Why Don’t You Love Me?’ is notable for the outfits, yes, the gorgeous vintage cinematic effect, yes, and the make-up? YES! Of all the looks featured, this weepy one is strangely our favourite. We’re not saying go for full-on mascara streaks, but it definitely champions the worn-in, dishevelled make-up trend we love so much. Go for smudgy eye glosses and textures that travel with wear, and don’t worry about touch-ups: the more distressed the better! Thank you Beyoncé for making life a little bit easier…
(Do we see a hit of Chanel Nail Enamel in Nouvelle Vague throughout? Such a hot shade for spring/summer 2010.) SB

Beauty Tried And Tested: The Best After-Tweeze Gels
Want to know what the best beauty products are before you buy? LOOK is here to help! This week our very own Beauty Editor Sophie Beresiner and LOOK reader Amanda Betts have put after-tweeze gels to the test...
Beauty Editor: “A multipurpose wonder gel. I take this on holiday for sunburn, but never thought of using it as an after-tweeze gel. It soothed my brows a treat.” Amanda: “This one was really jelly-like and you only need a little. It was the quickest at calming redness and it dried without a sticky residue. My favourite of the bunch.” Beauty Score: 5/5
- Shavata After Care Gel, £5.95
Beauty Editor: “I found this gel very soothing and it calmed down all the puffiness around my brows. You can use it on your bikini line too, but the tube’s so tiny it won’t last long. Amanda: “I wasn’t keen on the colour of this gel, but it was very soothing on my skin. I’d take the dinky tube on holiday with me.” Beauty Score: 3/5
- SBC Lavender Gel, £10.44
Beauty Editor: “I liked the fact that this gel is so natural and the lavender scent was very relaxing. The actual texture was a bit on the sticky side, though.” Amanda: “You only need a little bit of this to do the trick and it smoothes on easily. I didn’t find the sweet aroma as refreshing as the other ones, though.” Beauty score: 3/5
- Blink Pure Rose Gel, £24
Beauty Editor: “This was really effective at calming the redness on my newly waxed brows. The large jar lasts ages too – definitely a good investment beauty buy.” Amanda: “I couldn’t get over how good this smelt and it was by far the lightest gel of the lot. It’s a bit pricey, but was brilliant at cooling my skin.” Beauty Score: 4/5
